The Lokta plant (from which all of Graeham Owens’ paper and products are made) grows wild in the Himalayas at altitudes of 6,500 to 9,500 feet. It is a renewable tree free resource. The plant completely regenerates from the same root system after being harvested. The paper is made by hand, a sheet at a time, in mountainous villages of Nepal without the use of electricity or petroleum, just as it was over a thousand years ago.
